Meadowind Oaks

Quality Morgan Horses

The Morgan is compact and refined in build, with strong limbs, an expressive face, large eyes, well-defined withers, laid back shoulders and a well arched neck.

The breed's trotting ability made it a favorite for harness racing in the 1840s. Morgans were also used in the Civil War as cavalry mounts. In the post-civil war era, Morgans were also used in the Pony Express and as mounts for the cavalry in the western United States.

Horses can be an addiction; however, compared to other things, it really isn't a bad addiction

A complex interplay occurs between horses and humans. You cannot explain this connection analytically.

Meadowind Oaks

The name "Meadowind Oaks", I-75, Exit 207, perfectly describes this 10-acre farm nestled under giant grandfather oak trees. It is hard to imagine such a secluded and peaceful place exists just five minutes from the bustling intersection of Bee Ridge and Cattleman Road in Sarasota, Florida.

Jean Wagner and a heard of mostly Morgan horses have lived here for many years and from this idyllic spot, Jean dispenses mostly horse knowledge...more about Jean Wagner

Meadowind Oaks is a breeding farm for Morgan horses. Most of the horses have been born and raised here by Jean. They have all been trained by her, and oriented to people coming and going. Jean also offers riding lessons along with lessons in Carriage Driving (the fastest growing equestrian sport world wide), Equine Assisted Learning, Natural Horesmanship and Ground Lessons. Children's camps and educational children's parties are also available. This is not an open or public barn. It is a private barn on a private road. Please call for an appointment.

Meadowind OaksFull boarding is offered, along with horse leasing, training, saddle fitting, horse photography and farm consultations.

Jean is also a massage therapist and has adapted that knowledge to her horses. She has a way of communicating with animals and now offers experiences in TTouch, a specialized approach to the care and training of our animal companions. Developed by internationally recognized animal expert, Linda Tellington-Jones, PhD (Hon), this method based on cooperation and respect offers a positive approach to training, can improve performance and health and presents solutions to common behavioral and physical problems.

The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit and fire...Sharon Rall Lenon
